When a Mama’s Boy Calls you a Hoe

WHEN A MOMMA’S BOY CALLS YOU A HOE
Kanye can be a douche.  Period.

Yeah, he was out of line for making disrespectful remarks about, Sebastian (that’s Amber Rose & Wiz Khalifa’s  three year old son whom Kanye claimed to “own”).  And no, it wasn’t necessary for Kanye to bring up Amber Rose’s illicit past as an exotic dancer. But if that’s all we take away from last week’s Twitter Tantrum–that Kanye is a bad guy who says mean things about his exes and their offspring–then, we’ve really missed a moment here, so please, bear with me.

The fight started innocently enough.  Rapper Wiz Khalifa went on Twitter to ask Kanye if he was trying to bite another rapper’s style by changing the name of his upcoming album from “Swish” to “Waves”.  I admit, questioning someone’s artistry is sort of rude, but, Kanye didn’t appear to be bothered, he just answered Wiz’s question and went on about his life.  No harm, no foul… or so we thought.  Several hours later, though, Wiz tweets out “Hit this kk and become yourself.” Kanye, believing this to be another slight directed towards him (and, perhaps, his family) because his wife’s initials are “KK,” completely looses it.  Kanye explodes on Wiz, completely trashing everything about him, from his musical style to his “cool pants.”  And I wish I could tell you it stopped there, but it didn’t.  Kanye decided to throw in a few shots in about Wiz’s estranged wife (and Kanye’s ex-girlfriend), former stripper, Amber Rose. He tweeted out such gems like:

“You let a stripper trap you” and “I know you mad every time you look at your child that this girl got you for 18 years.”

And with those tweets, Kanye became the villain.  He was the bad guy.  He was the douchiest person ever for tweeting out those slut-shaming remarks about Amber Rose’s past as stripper. He was the one who was made to apologize.  And while I totally agree that Kanye’s remarks are both regrettable and unfortunate, I’d just like to remind everyone that it wasn’t Kanye West who said Amber Rose is “For Everybody.” That distinction goes to Amber’s own husband, Wiz Khalifa.  Wiz got mad at her at penned the song,”For Everbody,” which contained catchy little bars like “Man, I fell in love with a stripper, funny thing is I fell back out of love quicker.”

Why have I brought this up?  Well, it’s important that we acknowledge slut shaming is standard operating procedure for a lot of men not named Kanye West.  This line of attack upon women is resorted to every day by all types of men.  A man gets mad, gets his ego a little banged up, and that’s one of the first things he goes to, how much of a hoe some woman is.

And what’s particularly bewildering to me about being able to use Kanye and Wiz as examples in this article, is that they’re supposed to be the good dudes.  Do you remember what we heard about how to spot a good man growing up?  We were supposed to watch how a man treated his mother.  Who has ever treated their mothers better than these two?  They’re momma’s boys if I ever saw them.  So then, what do you do when even the momma’s boy call you a “hoe”?

I mean, what can you really do except shake your head at the fact that we’ve raised an entire generation of “good” men who respect their mothers, grandmothers and sisters, but will slut shame every other woman into oblivion? Heck, if you’re not legally or biologically bound to a slut shamer, I say “run;” you don’t need the drama.  If you are, however, the mom, sister, cousin or aunt, etc. of a young man, I say use your influence.  Let him know that while you’re to be revered in their lives, ALL women are to be respected.  Why?  Because slut shaming is an all too common practice and it needs to end today.
